Information for Panelist/SMEs

Panelists/Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are necessary for the evaluation of the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program.  If you are interested in serving on a panel to evaluate applications, please suscribe.  We will reach out to your when the application process begins.


Panelist Job:
Panelist review applications for technical ability.  The review process is set-up online,  so there is no need for travel.  The application consists of the basic contact information along with a proposal, a personal statement, references, and transcripts.

Eligibility Criteria:  
Panelist must work or have worked within the last five years as an active researcher, professor, or department head at an accredited university, government, or industry and hold a PhD or equivalent degree or must work or have worked within the last ten years as an active researcher, professor, or department head at an accredited university, government, or industry and holds a master’s degree; and has a depth of technical expertise and experience, reflected in publications and a respected reputation in the technical or academic community.

 

  • Doctoral Degree with (5) years experience in Science and Engineering Disciplines 
  • Master's Degree & Ten (10) years of experience within Science and Engineering Disciplines

  • Bioscience (includes Toxicology)
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Civil Engineering
  • Cognitive, Neural, And Behavioral Sciences
  • Computer and Computational Sciences
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Geosciences (Includes Terrain, Water, And Air)
  • Materials Science and Engineering (including Materials for Extreme Environments)
  • Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (Includes Undersea Systems)
  • Oceanography (Includes Ocean Acoustics, Remote Sensing, And Marine Meteorology)
  • Physics (Including Optics)
  • Space Physics

NDSEG Selection Panel Member Application Period

(Open to Academia, Government, & Industry)

​Honorarium:                                            

Subject Matter Experts may receive an Honorarium, if eligible, for serving as a Panelist. 

Join Us

Subject Matter Experts from academia, government,  industry and the science and technology community are encouraged to subscribe.  

The Selected Panelist will be responsible for reviewing and ranking all eligible applicants to determine the top 30%.
